Worship Service: Peace: Turn the Other Cheek

This week marks the start of a series in which each of the pastors will preach on “What peace means to me.” Pastor Richard is first and will preach on Matthew 5: 38-48. He writes, “We begin with a look at Jesus’ teaching in the Sermon on the Mount, a very common passage for Anabaptists to turn to in support of our peace theology. Jesus’ words on ‘turning the other cheek’ and ‘going the second mile’ have almost become cliches. Understood in their context, however, they are a call to nonviolent resistance.”
