Primary (Preschool – 5th Grade) and Venture Club (6th-8th Grade)

This fall, the theme for our primary grades and Venture Club Sunday school classes is Living as God’s People, with focus on God’s creation and on Old Testament leaders.

Proverbs 22: 6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Praise God we found enough teachers to fully staff our primary (preschool through 5th grade) classes. Teaching the children of LMC about God is a joy, and also a super fun way to connect with some of the youngest members of our community and their families.

Melissa M. and Alice K. will lead the Venture Club.

Mennonite Youth Fellowship (9th-12th grade)

The MYF will be studying the Bible this fall, led by Chris E. and Adrien H. They’ll spend the first quarter exploring “the what and why” and the second quarter looking at ways of using the Bible.

Later this year, the MYF will focus on baptism and on preparing for the 2025 Mennonite Convention.

Adult Classes

The adult Sunday school class will begin with a visit from Awad Sifri, a Christian Palestinian who has done peace work. This will be followed by a continuation of our “Church History: Ancient to Anabaptism” class from the spring. The local group Lombard for Palestine will also be stopping by once a month to share about their experiences both here and abroad—this will be a chance for us to get to know our Muslim neighbors.

On September 29, we’ll take a break from regularly scheduled programming to hold an Introduction to Commissions Fair. This will be an opportunity to learn more about how to engage with these lively and meaningful communities within our congregation.

Pastors Barb and Richard will lead a 6-week Anabaptist Inquiry Class starting October 6. A class on mission will kick off in November. We’ve got a great lineup planned!

Nursery

We’ll staff the nursery for both the worship service and the education hour starting Sunday, September 15. Please contact Ruth Q. with questions or to volunteer.
