It’s our annual church retreat weekend at Camp Menno Haven in Tiskilwa! Check-in begins at 1:00 PM. (Pre-registration is required.)
We kick off fall Christian Formation activities for all ages. We’ll have two classes for adults: a continuation of the Bible in a Year class and a special session with guest preacher Tony Deik and LMCer Jamie Huff. They will share about the outcomes of the July Peacebuilding Summit: Palestine in Comparative Perspective event.
Pastor Richard will preach on Jeremiah 32: 1-15. He writes, “The detailed description of Jeremiah’s land purchase is confusing to anyone who isn’t familiar with the customs of the time. So I’ve reimagined how the prophet might explain his actions to a modern audience in an episode of ‘Shark Tank.’ In the midst of a […]
LMCer Adrien Keables Hayward will preach on Acts 27: 27-38. She writes, “For World Communion Sunday, we turn to explore a moment when Paul broke bread under difficult conditions, noticing how God works in our lives so that we can share God’s love.” We’ll celebrate communion with breads from around the world.
We’ll hold this during Sunday school. The chairpersons of Community Life, Mission, Worship, Education, and Church Administration will each have a location set up so you can stop by and learn more about how to engage with these lively and meaningful communities within our congregation!
Join us for the musical The Cotton Patch Gospel, a re-imagining of Jesus’ life as if he were born in Gainesville, Georgia in the 20th century. Native Illinoisan Phillip Kaufmann will perform this one-man show. With the help of audio and video technology, Phillip portrays over 20 characters, plays 11 musical instruments, and sings his […]
Pastor Barb will preach on Luke 18: 9-14. She writes, “This familiar parable challenges our tendencies toward othering. It also challenges us to remember our dependence on God, on grace, and not just on our own self-defended goodness.”
Join us for the Harvest Halloween Party after Sunday school. We’ll enjoy a potluck meal together (please bring food to share), then play games, hunt for chocolate, and more! LMC will provide drinks. We love costumes; bring them for your kids to change into or wear them to church (what’s a few wriggles?). This event […]
Come join us for the fall workday on Saturday, November 1! We’ll work from 8:00 AM to noon and then break for a delicious lunch. The to-do list includes tasks for all ages both indoors and outdoors. Workday is always a great time of fellowship while working shoulder to shoulder to beautify our church. Please see Davis […]
We’ll honor those who have gone before us in the family of faith. In lieu of a sermon, we’ll enjoy a hymn sing together. We’ll also have a time of candle lighting in honor of those who have passed on.
We invite newer attendees of LMC to join the pastors for lunch after the worship service. It’s a great chance to get to know Pastors Barb, Richard, and Nathan better, while they get to know you better. If you would like to attend, please contact the church office.
