First Sunday of Lent

We’ll begin a six-week Lenten worship series called “Dwelling in Dissonance.” Pastor Richard will preach on John 11: 1-44. The theme for our first week is Dwelling in Dissonance: Love and Grief, Glory and Belief.

The writers from the Lenten materials this week note, “Throughout John 11, Jesus defies what we and the characters in the story expect him to do. When things are not going the way we want them to, when things seem deeply wrong, can we make space for love and lament? For grief? Can we believe that in the dissonance between how things should be and how they are, God might be at the work of transformation, opening us to the possibilities of resurrection?”

During Sunday school, we’ll conclude our 3-week world cafe series on welcoming. We’ll enjoy a potluck meal together to mark the occasion.
