Admin Commission Keeps Things Moving

—Jeremy Kropf

The Administration Commission is always busy at work behind the scenes at our church! Keep reading to learn more about recent accessibility improvements and volunteer opportunities.

To provide a more welcoming environment, we now have a very nice wheelchair that may be used to assist people from their car to the sanctuary. This donated chair folds and unfolds easily and is kept in the entryway.

In August we replaced a short section of pipe under the janitor’s closet that transitioned from the newer to the older sewer. We have had multiple sewer backups over the past year-plus; plumbers determined from videoing the sewer that this transition was the most likely culprit.

We learned after the first years of the Covid-19 pandemic that improving indoor air quality is one of the most important factors to mitigate virus transmission. To that end, we use our rooftop heating and air conditioning unit to mix in fresh air to the sanctuary. It provides us some amount of fresh air year-round, without too great a swing in temperature. We also operate HEPA filtration air purifiers and open the windows, when possible. We need volunteers to turn on the air purifiers and do a few other opening tasks by 9:45 AM before the Sunday worship service. You can sign up via the link in the weekly e-news.

Finally, LMC treasurer Eric N. needs people to help count the offering on Sundays. Please talk to Eric about volunteering.
